My Story
I started coding at the age of eight on my C64 and went on to study computer science. Then, I surprised everyone by signing up for a Communication Science degree. In parallel, I developed a passion for music and played the bass guitar.
At 25, I moved to Ireland, joined a local rock band for fun, and started working in Adobe's demand planning department. My role involved merging Excel sheets to create operational reports, and I quickly realized there had to be a better way. I got myself a manual for Visual Basic for Applications and automated each process. Soon enough, I was streamlining operations for the entire branch in my first proper data position.
In 2005, I had to put my data career on hold as my band placed a single in the Irish Top 20. The United States was calling, and we answered. I spent the next two years traveling across the country in a tour van, playing hundreds of shows and meeting thousands of people. However, the music industry's stagnation during the transition to digital models led to the end of this adventure.
At 31, relocated to Barcelona. Thanks to my previous experience, I scored a job as a Jr. BI analyst and spent five years working 50-60 hour weeks, including nights and weekends. Once I had mastered the job, I found my exit into the startup world. A few years later, I was allowed to join a small scale-up called Typeform and build their data function…
Since then, I have been scaling data teams, infrastructures, and processes, as a leader and consultant, eventually reaching a VP role. This is what I do best and enjoy the most, therefore, I recently pivoted my career towards full-time advising and consulting.
I won’t stop until my Data Operating System becomes the de facto standard for building data-driven companies!
